An engineer and senior manager in a motor manufacturing company had good feedback about her performance but was uncomfortable that her leadership style seemed so different to those of her male colleagues.

As we explored her ideas about leadership and gender, she realised that her anxiety was connected with how to be a female leader in a male dominated environment. She had no role models to follow and consequently thought she was 'doing it wrong'.

As a result of the work we did, she realised how important it was for her to continue to lead in her own way, and she made the decision to mentor a couple of younger women engineers in the company in order to provide them with a role model.
